Attention DPS Families! Today is National Custodian Day! Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but it does not go unnoticed. Whether it's keeping our school buildings clean and safe, to touch up paint jobs, tearing down/cleaning up after sporting events, or just lending a helping hand, they help create a place where everyone can feel comfortable, welcome, and ready to teach or learn. Not all of our custodians are pictured, but this day goes out to all of them.
Students had fun creating their own Great Wall of China, writing their names in calligraphy and Chinese characters, and even trying their hand at using chopsticks! They also made their own snack mix, just like the Cat Bandit from their Amplify reader, using chopsticks to mix and enjoy their creations!

These students were celebrated for their positive choices, effort, kindness, responsibility, perseverance, and all the ways they contributed to making our school community a better place. We are so proud of the way they are showing up, giving their best, and being the kind of classmates and school community members we can count on!
A special congratulations to the students who were honored today! Your ability to pause, breathe, regulate, and make positive choices is something to celebrate!

The Homecoming Parade is tomorrow! The start of the parade is at 3:30pm. It will begin on Lincoln Statue Drive. We will then cross the bridge on Peoria Avenue. The parade will continue up to 2nd Street, over to Hennepin, back down to 1st Street and back onto Peoria Ave. Then we will finally cross back over the bridge on Peoria Ave to Lincoln Statue Drive.
